In the world of vintage decor and vintage apparel one thing stands out and that one thing is cheap reproductions versus the real vintage goods. I've been dealing in vintage goods for over 20 years and one thing I have a good eye for are knockoffs or reproductions as they are called in the vintage and antique/primitive industry.
For many years I ran multiple booths in various antique malls as well as my own retail shop for primitive and vintage goods. I made many trips to New England towns to acquire pre civil war pieces to resell. Unfortunately, it's hard to find these items in the South due to the civil war and some of the things that occurred during that time in this part of the country. Because of my years of experience, I can spot a "fake" very well.
Many people today want that vintage look inside their homes, so they visit retailers like Hobby Lobby to purchase reproductions made in places like China to decorate their homes with. While this can be affordable it is not genuine and it's hard to have a conversation with company eating supper about the history of your reproduction grain bin in the corner of the living room because it has no history other than it was made to look like the original at a fraction of the price.
What I do here at Southern Glory Goods & Co is take genuine vintage materials and design new life into them by creating One Of A Kind handbags and apparel items. Some of the items we produce are vintage inspired such as our clothing line, but you can still feel good about showing it off because all of the apparel designs are limited run and vintage inspired. When you purchase a handbag you're actually purchasing history redesigned into art that becomes your handbag. Not many people can say they have a One Of A Kind Handbag, but you can! Thanks for shopping with us!
